We’re delighted to announce that our Highways M25 framework team, alongside our partners Connect Plus, Connect Plus Services and AtkinsRealis have been shortlisted for a Construction News Award in the Supply Chain Collaboration Excellence category. The recognition is for the innovative design method that the team devised to complete strengthening works on the M25 J3 Swanley Bridge in 2023.
Due to the poor stability and road surfacing the team recognised that steel plates would be an insufficient long-term solution, therefore designed a tailored solution as they installed 182 carbon fibre-reinforced polymer rods (CFRP) within 12 weeks. This pioneering initiative marks the first successful installation of carbon rods on both the M25 and in the UK as a whole.
