Sharing our successes

Long Stratton Bypass project team is rated excellent by the Considerate Contractors Scheme!

Following a site visit from members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) at our Long Stratton Bypass project in Norfolk, the team received an outstanding score of 42 out of 45!

The independent audit focuses on three key areas which are: Respect the Community, Respect the Environment, Respect the Workforce and covers many aspects of safety, welfare, cleanliness, training, Social value, Environment, public engagement, staff engagement.

The new A140 bypass will be a single carriageway road that will provide a new junction at Church Lane to the north, extending from this junction on the east side of Long Stratton in a southerly direction for approximately 3.9km, where it will re-join the existing A140 just south of Oakside farm.

The job also includes the construction of three new roundabouts, two new junctions and two overbridges and five attenuation ponds. Our team began working on the bypass project in February 2024 and only began breaking ground in early June.

All aspects of the delivery of this project is an exemplar for the industry and provides a very professional and positive image for both the contractor and thus for the client and all other stakeholders. The various methods of communicating with the latter, such as the newsletters and the webpage ensures the local community is aware of the progress of the works at all times. The contractor has produced a challenging Social Value plan although goodwill and charity support is already well advanced and will be soon supported by planned education and training initiatives. There are extensive and comprehensive environmental, and sustainability plans in place, all of which appears to be managed effectively by the dedicated team of well trained and experienced supervisors. Waste management appears to underpin the latter. The importance of effective health and safety leadership also appears to be a top priority for the contractor and appears to be well communicated to all the workforce on a continuous basis and similarly well monitored. My thanks to Tony for the site tour and to Danny, Craig and Nicol for the extremely comprehensive and thorough review of this challenging project.
