In the lead-up to Christmas, many of our people and teams generously gave their time to deliver social value including donation of essential items to support local communities across the UK. Their efforts helped ensure a joyful festive season for the areas where we work.

Our HS2 project team working in Aylesbury donated £150 worth of gifts to the Inspire Bucks Children Gift Appeal!
Following the success of our team’s handmade welly racks donated to Barnsbury Primary School last year, we were thrilled to step in once again.
The school was delighted with the original racks, but the nursery needed an additional one to keep up with the muddy boots during this wet weather. Our team gladly took on the task crafting and donating a new welly rack for the nursery.
Our Wales & Western railway team hosted a Christmas jumper day and in total raised over £300 for Save The Children. The team’s collective efforts have resulted in exceeding their original target of £100! The donations will help children in need, providing them with the chance for a brighter future!
The team working on the B4069 Lyneham banks hosted two civil engineering students, from Wiltshire College on a three-week work placement as part of their course. The students gained valuable hands-on experience in key aspects of road construction and site management and for the first time visited a live constructed site!
The Hertfordshire Framework team supported South Hill Centre’s third annual Christmas Carol concert by closing the road, which had allowed the concert to safely take place; saving the charity £1500!
Our Regional Civil Engineering team working with the Somerset New Assets Highways team donated £112 worth of essentials to the local food bank.
The Sustainability team crafted beautiful Christmas wreaths for the Sunnyside Rural Trust charity, in Hertordshire. The charity will sell the wreaths in their shops, supporting their community efforts.
The Long Stratton project team and our supply chain partners collected and donated 40kg (worth £120+) of food and goods to Waveney Foodbank, ensuring local families have what they need this Christmas. Members of the team also helped Long Stratton Town Council to install three Christmas trees around the town.
The A46 Walsgrave team donated much needed litter picking equipment for Friends of Sowe Valley community Group. The donation of the carts means that volunteers no longer need to carry heavy bags, making the activity more inclusive for people of all ages and abilities.
Nicola, Social Value & Sustainability Adviser went along to Tesco in Tiptree, Colchester to collect food for people who are experiencing hardship in the local community on behalf of FareShare for the A133 Colchester project.
Mike Benn, Regional Area Manager for SDF North where we are currently working on Wentedge and Wentbridge projects donated a Christmas tree to the Thorpe Audlin Parish Council.
The COFA framework team donated £250 worth of essential items to Runnymede Foodbank. The team’s generous donation will provide much needed relief to those struggling during the festive season.
