Did you know that… last year, over 51,500 tyre-related breakdowns occurred on England’s motorways and major A-roads. More than one in five people who took long journeys and experienced a breakdown on the motorway believe that their situation could have been avoided with proper tyre checks before setting off. With driving conditions becoming challenging due to Autumn weather conditions it’s important that you carry out important checks before you set off and ensure you plan and prepare ahead of your journey.
To ensure your safety and the safety of other road users, National Highways have released a driving campaign called T.R.I.P. To help you have a safe TRIP this winter please do check out the National Highways website for guidance.
Before setting off:
- Plan your journey, including rest stops
- Make sure you get a good night's sleep before your trip
- Avoid alcohol the day before as this can disrupt sleep and affect your driving the following day
- Avoid driving between midnight and 6am when you’re likely to feel most tired
