Public footbridge lifted and installed successfully over a weekend.
In just 27 hours over one weekend possession our R&W team completed the removal of the original 55 tonne Glenferness Avenue footbridge in Bournemouth; which crosses the Brighton Mainline 2 railway line and the fabrication and installation of two new footbridges for our client BCP Council. The works are part of the wider programme of cycling and walking improvements in the area.
Despite several challenges including unforeseen issues and a squeezed worksite, due to a massive collaborative team effort from all involved we were able to achieve a successful outcome.
Civils work to connect the new footbridges to the wider works are now underway prior to opening to the public at the end of this year.
12 months of early contractor involvement meant we could delivery safely and efficiently within a tight window with minimum disruption to the local residents and the railway line.
Huge thanks to everyone involved and our trusted supply chain partners who made it all possible. All your hard work will soon allow the local public to enjoy walking or cycling across the new modern footbridge.
