What good feels like

Launch of ‘Leaving a Lasting Legacy’ initiative!

At Octavius, we are committed to leave a sustainable and positive legacy wherever we work, helping to improve communities beyond the infrastructure we create. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our ‘Leaving a Legacy Project,’ a new initiative designed to bring lasting benefits to the communities we serve.

Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting a series of themed social activities and a transformational project.  This exciting initiative will be a true collaboration between Octavius employees, our customers, charities, and supply chain partners, all working together to leave a legacy and create a cleaner environment.

This October, we will begin work on our first project: the refurbishment of a car park at Sunnyside Rural Trust, a Hertfordshire-based charity and social enterprise. The project will run for three weeks and involves creating willow dens, planting, moving compost, and more. Our social value team have been working closely with the charity to ensure the enhancement works are all designed to enhance the charity’s outdoor space and promote environmental and social wellbeing.

Several members of our executive team are actively involved in the project, including Jamie Harrison, Delivery Director Highways, Jon Millar, Framework Manager Highways and Cat Cliffe, People and Sustainability Director, who is also the executive sponsor for this initiative. They are excited to get involved and will be participating throughout.

"We have developed a relationship with Sunnyside for the past 2 years and this feels like a great time to bring people together to deliver a collaborative initiative in support of them. Working with our clients and supply chain, it is an opportunity to give back, and support an important charity that helps young people and adults with learning disabilities in Hertfordshire. Part funded by the Charity themselves, Octavius, Lynch and Breedon with other stakeholders and donators helping out too, we will be able to transform their existing carpark and make it more appealing and more accessible to the staff and visitors of Sunnyside. Thank you to all who have volunteered to support this and we look forward to seeing the benefit it brings."
