We’re thrilled to share that our E&P team working within Network Rail’s Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) successfully delivered the busiest weekend in CP7 so far. This also marks Octavius’s largest-ever E&P programme completed in a single weekend.
The team completed projects across Network Rail’s Southern Region, making significant progress across all three key E&P packages: Distribution, Feeders, and NSCDs (Negative Short Circuit Devices).
Thanks to our team’s dedication, planning and collaboration with our partners, we achieved this major milestone, ensuring stable and effective power supply across the rail network for years to come.
Significant activities included:
- Two switchgear modules delivered by Kirow at Worting Junction Substation and Winklebury TP Hut. Marking the third and fourth delivery out of seven on the first phase of DC switchgear renewals.
- A cable train installed 6.5 miles of feeder cables between Crowhurst Junction Substation and Little Browns Substation, which is along the Redhill to Tonbridge line.
- Commissioned the first set of HV feeder cables at Crowhurst along the Redhill to Tonbridge line.
- Terminations and testing of a second HV feeder at Crowhurst Substation.
- Two NSCDs commissioned at Marden and Staplehurst, marking 13 completed sites out of 17 sites within the first phase of the CP7 NSCD rollout.
Other activities included installation of an under-track crossing (UTX), platform route works, installation of a King Post wall, deliveries of materials and various associated civil and electrical works across the Southern Region. The team has also recently successfully commissioned the DC switchgear at Northbrook into service, marking 100% completion of committed DC switchgear volumes in Year 1.
All works were delivered in a safe and assured manner, with no accidents or incidents and everything handed back on time to our customer.
Commenting on the successful weekend, Octavius Framework Director , James Buckley said: “A big thank to the whole team including our Ecosystem who planned and delivered these works, especially those giving up their weekend. I am very proud.”
Well done to everyone involved in this impressive achievement!
