We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the West Drayton Station Access Road Renewal project, delivered on behalf of Network Rail Wales & Western. The project was completed safely and two weeks ahead of schedule.
As part of our Wales and Western Renewals Programme, the project included extensive highway improvements, new drainage systems, and the formation and surfacing of approximately 1,200m² of carriageway. When our team began the project in August 2024, initial plans and costings based on a local authority design were already in place. However, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) surveys revealed a significant increase in reconstruction requirements. To address this, our project team worked closely with our Octavius Regional Civil Engineering (RCE) colleagues to develop an accelerated program that met the customer project completion timeline of December. Through collaboration with our multidisciplinary teams, we delivered a sustainable solution that allowed the project to be completed ahead of schedule. Our customer was especially delighted, given the challenges and complexity of the work involved.
Furthermore, critical factor in the project’s success was proactive collaboration with stakeholders, including Hillingdon Council and MTR. Traffic management and safety measures were expertly coordinated, while regular communication with the Route Asset Manager (RAM) and project engineers ensured smooth alignment and execution.
This project marks the second completed project in our Wales and Western work bank. We are excited to continue making progress on other key projects that will improve rail travel and safety for passengers across the region.
We are proud to have delivered this vital improvement ahead of schedule, all due to our team’s hard work and specialist expertise in rail/road interface.
