As we are now experiencing poor weather conditions and approaching the colder winter months, our SHEA team have prepared a few safety tips for staying safe and well during this time:
Preventing slips, trips and falls
Slips, trips and falls are some of the most common causes of injuries on construction sites. To help reduce the risk of a slip, trip or fall:
- Take extra time
- Be extra aware of your surroundings and hidden hazards
- Always wear appropriate footwear and the correct PPE for the task
- Always make sure walking routes are well lit
- Use extra lighting when working on scaffolding
- Report poor lighting on site, in offices and walkways
- Keep your site tidy before you start work, during and
after completion. - Always use handrails when using stairs or steps and make sure they are clear of obstacles or trip hazards.
