We recently came together with representatives from our customer, Essex County Council, a local MP and other key partners to celebrate the first spade in the ground, on the A1331 project Colchester to mark the start of construction for a key link road to support growth in the area.
Funded as part of a £99 million package of investment by Homes England, which also includes the Colchester Rapid Transit System, phase one of the A1331 is the first piece of infrastructure to directly support the future delivery of the new Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community.
The project will see three new roundabouts providing future access to the new garden community. Also, the new 1.8km dual carriageway will provide vital infrastructure for the Colchester border garden community, supporting new homes and local economic growth.
The scheme will link the A120 and A133, providing easier access to the A120 and A12 and helping to reduce congestion on local roads, and these benefits will available to the local community following the completion of phase 2.
