We want you to have a safe trip this Winter
As we are now experiencing cold, wet and windy weather conditions, our SHEA team and customers have prepared safety tips to help you, your passengers and everyone using the road stay safe.
As you embark on long or significant journeys this Winter, please ensure that you follow the guidance outlined. By checking your vehicle, staying weather-aware, and prioritising driver well-being, you contribute to a safer and more enjoyable travel experience for all.
Driving safely this Winter
Planning for driving in Winter is essential to ensure your safety and the safety of other road users. Winter driving can be challenging due to slippery road conditions, reduced visibility, and extreme cold. Being prepared for changing weather conditions can help you have a safe journey this winter. Always be extra cautious and anticipate the actions of other drivers, as not everyone may be as prepared for winter driving.
National Highways have released a winter driving campaign called TRIP – Top-up, Rest, Inspect, Prepare.
- Consider travelling at quieter times
- Plan your journey in advance
- Take regular breaks
- Have alternative travel routes in mind to reduce stress if weather worsens
- Check the weather forecast, road conditions and for any potential disruptions before your journey
- Pack a winter kit
